AION UT Supermini goes on Sale in September

AION is a new brand to the U.K. from China offering something unique to a market that’s slowly becoming used to new challengers. Not only does AION offer a concierge service to hand-hold customers throughout the sales and delivery process, but existing customers also have access to the same amazing service.

The recently launched V SUV also came with the AION Great 8 Promise as standard, which includes an eight-year warranty, eight years’ servicing, eight years’ roadside assistance and MOT until the car is eight years old. This is also transferrable to customers who buy a used AION, which should keep residual values from tanking, whilst offering peace-of-mind motoring.

And AION’s second car, its UT supermini, is no different as it comes with the same concierge service and same AION Great 8 Promise plan. But the posh treatment doesn’t end there, because AION has a bold proposition for U.K. customers as it says “the electric AION UT will reset what UK motorists can expect from a B-segment supermini in terms of class-leading space, quality, refinement and premium-level features.”

Quite a bold statement, supported by quite a bold package of promises for 8 years.

Specs

Should the U.K. supermini market be concerned by the arrival of a new, small, electric hatchback? On paper it looks very promising, with its Its 60kWh battery and 268 miles of range. It can also rapid charge from 30-80% in 24 minutes.

And this is no slow couch potato, because it’s packed with a powerful 204 PS motor delivering a rather punchy sprint from 0-62 mph in just 7.3 seconds.

Trim Levels

There’s only one trim available and five colours to choose from, but standard equipment is good, including heated front seats, 14.6” central touch screen and 360° surround-view camera. But AION does offer a Premium pack that adds a panoramic glass roof, powered tailgate, ventilated driver’s seat and wireless phone charging.

This maybe a Chinese brand, but the AION UT was designed in Europe and engineered specifically for U.K. roads making changes to the springs, dampers, bump-stops and calibration, plus it gets a revised anti-roll bar. This will ensure customers experience a familiar feel with how the UT drives, despite it being a new brand.

The AION UT goes on sale in September, but prices and full specs have yet to be revealed.
