BYD launches new Dolphin Cargo e-Van
BYD has launched a van version of its popular Dolphin crossover called the Dolphin Cargo e-Van.
Powered by a 204 PS electric motor with a 60.4kWh battery the van offers a WLTP range of up to 347 miles in urban driving and 265 miles combined, ideal for business deliveries in towns and cities, but equally capable of longer distances. BYD claims this will “help businesses maximise efficiency while reducing operating costs”.
This conversion is completed in the U.K. so it has been developed to suit the needs of British commercial operators.
Changes include the removal of the rear seats and installation of a full metal bulkhead behind the front seats, ensuring it qualifies as a Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV).
With the seat removed and a bulkhead in place, load capacity is 1,093 litres including the 47 litre underfloor storage space.
The maximum load length is 1,250mm, while the minimum load width (between the wheel arches) is 1,018mm, with a maximum width of 1,160mm – all within the DOLPHIN Cargo e-Van's compact 4,290mm length. The maximum load height is 710mm.
The flat load floor area is trimmed with phenolic ply – complete with additional underfloor storage – also received hardwearing door cards and a bumper protection film. Security can be increased with a number of rear window options including polycarbonate panels.
There’s an optional 70 mph speed limiter designed for fleet optimisation and energy management, or to ensure company vans do not exceed motorway speed limits.
The Dolphin Cargo e-Van gets BYD’s Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) Blade Batteries - which is cobalt free - specifically designed for durability, enhanced safety and greater resistance to extreme temperature fluctuations when compared with other battery technologies.
Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology enables the vehicle to supply power directly to external equipment from its high-voltage traction battery, useful for portable lighting and recharging - or powering - tools.
There’s also a range of optional extras, such as reversing alarms, amber warning beacons, vehicle livery and customised storage configurations tailored to customer requirements.
Standard equipment is as follows:
Heat pump
Heated steering wheel and heated front seats
360-degree parking camera
Smartphone mirroring via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto,
The DOLPHIN Cargo e-Van is available to order now through participating UK BYD retailers priced from £29,358 excluding VAT (£36,305 including VAT), with fleet support available for corporate customers via the BYD UK Corporate Sales Team.
