MFG announce summer price cuts for their ultra rapid charging.

St Albans based Motor Fuel Group are one of those brands that have crept into the zeitgeist of EV charging without anyone really seeing them coming. They acquired Murco back in 2014 and Morrisons forecourt operations in 2024. They are now the UK’s largest independent forecourt operator, more than 570 of their sites have ultra-rapid charging. Crucially, they are on the Octopus Electroverse network, currently the benchmark for convenience of payment.

I stumbled on one of their sites in my degraded Leaf some years ago after mistiming a charge at the previous stop during a three stop odyssey and have used their Andoversford site (only one of 3 rapids locations on the A40 between Oxford and Cheltenham) a few times. While MFG has historically been on the pricier side, their ABB and Kempower hardware rarely fail to deliver. The bright primary colour and bold text branding are on point and all of the sites have facilities because they are based in traditional fuel stations.

Surveys consistently show that EV owners value convenience, reliability, and facilities over price alone. Now MFG have announced a meaningful price cut for summer 2026: all their EV Power sites will charge at 59p per kWh (down from 79p) from 1 July through to 30 September - a 25% reduction. For drivers who already value the reliability and forecourt convenience, this makes MFG an even stronger option this summer.
