You can have new Nissan Pixo in any colour, but we recommend the purple

Nissan’s latest EV was announced today. We got to see the first official pictures and video of Pixo, the upcoming small car from the Japanese manufacturer.
Leaning heavily on the metaplasm of the word Pixel, the design is according to Nissan’s head of exterior design, Masato Koyama a “Bold, cube shaped silhouette”. The pixel motif is certainly well used. Look at those wheels!

Yes, yes. It’s based on the Twingo, we get it. Underneath, it shares a platform with the Renault 4 and 5 and its Nissan stablemate, the Micra.
I’ve often been in a minority of one when I suggest Micra is better looking than 5, but I think I might be on steadier ground here. This is clearly prettier than the Renault.
The glasshouse appears identical and they both have the crease over each wheel arch. The front of Pixo is different though with different headlights, bonnet and front bumper.

Prices haven’t been announced but we expect it to start at less than £20,000.
Tech specs? A 27.5 kWh LFP battery gives it around 160 miles of range. 80 horsepower is put through the front axle taking it from 0-60 in 12.1 seconds.
It (bi-directional) AC charges at 11kW and DC at 50. It’s a smidge under 3.8 metres long and has a sub 10m turning circle.
The interior is broadly the same as Twingo, though is markedly more subdued. It’s an odd counterpoint to the design-intensive exterior. The Twingo is distinctly more colourful inside.
Google and Gemini are available on most trim levels and Face ID can recognise the driver and load their personalised settings.

In the boot, basketballs and pastel coloured balloons fit easily. There’s cable storage beneath the floor contributing to seats-up capacity of 356l. Fold the seats - they are not even close to being flat - and there’s 1221l available. The rear seats to do a number of clever folds though.
It’s a British design and will be built in Slovenia, alongside it’s Renault near-twin. Expect it to qualify for UK government EV grant, potentially taking it close to £16k.

This purple is fabulous!

I hate the word funky, but it’s interesting to see how with Pixo/Twingo, the Nissan is the more bold exterior design. Many say, with some justification, that 5 is prettier than Micra. I reckon Pixo is more desirable than Twingo. Don’t forget Twingo doesn’t have DC charging as standard.
